Endocrinologist and Diabetist/Diabetologist
Endocrinologists are trained physicians who deal with the diseases caused by hormonal imbalances, typically from glands of endocrine system. An endocrinologist’s duty is to restore the normal balance of hormones in a human body. The hormonal imbalance often affects body parts other than the glands. Some conditions that come under the treatments of endocrinologist are menopause, diabetes, osteoporosis, etc.
Diabetologists are trained physician who only treat people who are suffering from early or higher stages of diabetes. We often confuse an endocrinologist with a diabetologist. However, the basic difference is that an endocrinologist can treat any problem related to endocrine gland including diabetics but a diabetologist is a specialized physician who can treat only diabetic patients.
